We are excited to provide you with a clear structure for the equitable and effective use of our facilities. Our priorities are focused on serving and supporting the ongoing mission of the parish, with liturgical services and sacramental celebrations taking precedence.
Purpose of the Use of Parish Facilities
The purpose of the Use of Parish Facilities Policy and Procedures is to provide structure and procedures for the equitable and effective use of all parish facilities and to ensure good stewardship of limited resources. Rentals for birthday parties, baby showers, family reunions, graduation parties, sports banquets, and non-church-related events are not allowed.
The priorities for scheduling the facilities
1. Funerals
2. Liturgical services and sacramental celebrations
3. Religious events, including sacramental preparation classes
4. Parish-wide programmes and events (e.g. Missions or Speaker Series)
5. Diocesan events and meetings
6. Events approved by the Parish Priest
7. All ministry programmes and meetings, including non-sacramental devotions
8. Regularly scheduled parish- or school-affiliated organisations
9. Special affiliated parish or school events
10. Other church organisations not affiliated with Christchurch West
Important
Please note that during Holy Week, Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday), Easter, Christmas Eve, and Christmas, ONLY liturgical meetings/events will be scheduled in any Parish facility. Thank you for your understanding.
St Teresa of Lisieux Church, Riccarton
St Teresa of Lisieux Church, Riccarton is a Catholic Church located at 8 Puriri Street, Riccarton, and has a capacity for 400 people.
St Teresa's Hall
St Teresa's Hall is a spacious venue that can accommodate up to 300 guests.
St Teresa's Meeting Room
St Teresa's Meeting Room is a spacious and well-equipped venue and can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people, with chairs and tables.
Our Lady of Victories Church, Sockburn
Our Lady of Victories Church, Sockburn is located in Sockburn at 106 Main South Road, and is a spacious and elegant venue for weddings, baptisms, and other religious ceremonies. It can accommodate up to 400 guests comfortably and has ample parking facilities.
St Bernadettes Catholic Church
St Bernadettes Catholic Church is located in Hornby at 76 Hei Hei Road, and is a spacious and elegant venue for weddings, baptisms, and other religious ceremonies. The church can accommodate up to 250 guests in its main hall, which features a high ceiling, stained glass windows, and a beautiful altar.
Bishop Joyce Centre
The Bishop Joyce Centre is a hall located at Our Lady of Victories church in Sockburn, Christchurch. It is used for various activities and events, such as safeguarding workshops and youth ministry. The hall can accommodate up to 150 people,
St Bernadette's Hall
St Bernadette's Hall is a small venue that can accommodate up to 100 people. It is located in Hei Hei, a convenient and accessible area.
Terms & conditions for hiring the hall

Completion of this agreement and payment of the required deposit confirm the booking.

The Parish reserves the right to accept or decline any booking.

Cancellations must be made in writing to booking@holyfamily.nz. If canceled more than a week before the event, the deposit will be refunded.

You must come to visit the office the working day prior to the event to collect the keys or codes. Deposits will be refunded only after verifying that the keys have been returned. The keys must be returned the first working day after the event.

Hall: $50 per hour.

Costs

The hall is a smoke-free and vape-free environment.

Alcohol consumption is only allowed with prior approval from the Parish Priest.

The Hirer is responsible for any damage caused to the hall or its contents.

The Hirer must leave the hall clean and tidy, returning it to its original condition. All rubbish must be removed by the Hirer.

The Hirer is responsible for their own security during the event.

The Hirer must not create excessive noise or disturbance that would affect neighbors or other parish activities.
Hall Usage

The Hirer is responsible for setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and any other equipment brought into the hall.

All furniture and equipment must be protected to avoid damage to the floor.

No nails, screws, tape, or other adhesives may be used on any part of the hall.
Set-Up and Take-Down

Ensure all exit doors and windows are closed and locked.

Check that all lights, electrical appliances, and heating/cooling systems are turned off.

If applicable, reset any alarms.

Return keys to the Parish contact as instructed.
Departure

The Hirer must designate an Emergency/Fire Warden(s) who will check the hall for safety hazards and be familiar with evacuation procedures.

Any accidents or incidents must be reported to the Parish Office Manager or Parish Priest immediately.

The Hirer must notify the Parish of any hazards they become aware of.

Health and Safety

The Hirer assumes full responsibility for any personal injury or property damage occurring during the event.

The Hirer is strongly encouraged to obtain appropriate liability insurance to cover any potential claims arising from their use of the hall.
Liability

No confetti, glitter, or helium balloons are permitted.

All items used from the hall must be returned to their original locations.

Events must conclude by 11:00 PM.

The Hirer is responsible for supervising children who attend the event.
Additional Policies

The Parish reserves the right to terminate this agreement if the Hirer breaches any of these terms.
Termination

Funerals take precedence over all events. They normally give three days notice and are normally during normal working hours.
